WWE's Jim Ross comments on rumors of a brand merger, 2009 Hall of Fame candidates
Apr 12, 2008 - 09:32 PM

Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on the brand separation: "There have been some mild rumblings lately that that WWE is thinking about doing away with their brand separation. I have it on good authority that is not going to happen."

Powell's POV: I heard something about this on Friday. One source heard rumors that WWE officials were discussing the matter, yet predicted the change would not happen. Among the reasons cited by the source is that it would be an accounting nightmare due to the way WWE has things structured on the business side. I can barely do my own taxes using Turbo Tax, so I'll just take the source's word for it. That being said, I'd like to see WWE stick with two brands with ECW being part of the Smackdown side. If anything, I think they should be discussing a draft lottery to set up the two primary brands properly.

-Ross on the possible WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009: "Just glancing at the list of many, many viable and worthwhile candidates one preliminary list might include, in no particular order, Steve Austin, The Fabulous Freebirds, The Von Erich Family, The Funks, the late Houston Promoter Paul Boesch, The Million Dollar Man and Ricky Steamboat. How’s that for starters? Personally, I would add Danny Hodge, Scandar Akbar, and Bill Watts but I am not overly objective when it comes to those that I have admired since I was a kid or those that have helped me throughout my career.

Powell's POV: No arguments with that list. All deserving candidates.

Other topics include concussions, Ric Flair, and a fun Ross rant on Fox News.
