WWE "ECW on SyFy" Hits
Shelton Benjamin vs. Zack Ryder: Once again I struggle where to put this. The match was very good, as it always is from these guys. The leg lariat on Benjamin during the break was hot, it should have been on TV, and I enjoyed the match. But this appears to be the blow off. And if it was, it was the weakest blow off to the weakest feud. I like Ryder and I hope they do something with him soon that does not involve him being a douche bag or a bimbo. Rosa annoys me and really isn't all that much to look at. To each his own I guess.
Shelton Benjamin as number one contender: This makes sense for a lot of reasons. Benjamin deserves a title shot for his in ring work, and Christian needs somebody new to feud with…To hell with all that, it is Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian in a ladder match! This match alone could be worth the cost of the PPV. As Christian said, if you run a video of ladder match highlights, they are in every other clip. They said they wanted to steal the show, and the way things are looking, it shouldn't be too hard.
Ezekiel Jackson turns on William Regal: Not that Zeke excites me that much (I do think he's better than Kozlov), but the Regal act was getting stale and this is a good way to freshen it up. Of course this leads to Kozlov vs. Zeke first, but eventually we see Zeke vs. Regal and that should give the big man a chance to prove his worth.
WWE "ECW on SyFy" Misses
Matt Hardy on the Abraham Washington Show: I will ask the question I asked last night. What was that? What was the purpose of the segment. I understand that we will always have these silly bits while Vince is around, but most of them have a point, even if the point is to embarrass or humiliate. This did nothing. It didn't get Matt over, it didn't start a feud, it hyped nothing but Matt's appearance on Scare Tactics. Was that it? It did not make me want to watch the show, so what was the point? Terrible segment that seemed to drag on forever.
Vance Archer: Vance will stay here until he faces a real competitor. Vance is a big guy, and the guy he faced last night made Mysterio look like Batista so I don't see the point. Move him over to a real feud and I will move him to the hits…I hope.
Yoshi Tatsu vs. William Regal: The post match stuff might get a hit, but the match itself was a miss. Basically it was 150 strikes, a choke on the rope, a push from Kozlov, and one kick to put Regal down. Regal deserves more than two minutes, even if the purpose of the match was the Zeke turn and not the match itself. Shave five minutes off Hardy and AW and put it here and this match moves to the hits.
Overall Show: This was more of a throwaway hour than a terrible show. A lost of good things happened. But the show was flat to declining on everything after the ladder match announcement and the AW show and two minute main event where awful. ECW should be doing better than this and I hope they right the ship soon.
