WWE Survivor Series Preview and Predictions: Which Triple Threat title match will lead to a change? Will Kofi Kingston get the best of Randy Orton? Can John Morrison get revenge on The Miz? Will Batista go to far?
Chris Shore Nov 22, 2009 - 11:06 AM

The following predictions are made without any inside knowledge of the match finishes. I am guessing just like you are. Check back tonight for Dot Net Live Coverage of the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT

Survivor Series comes to us live from Washington DC tonight. As the final “Big Four” PPV of the year, the road to Wrestlemania officially kicks off when this show ends. As usual, WWE has done a terrible job hyping this PPV. The Mysterio/Batista match has received the most hype and that has only been a three week feud. This is a good card on paper, and I hope it delivers. So with no prior knowledge as to the outcome, here’s my picks for Survivor Series 2009.

Undertaker vs. Big Show vs. Chris Jericho in a Triple Threat for the World Hvt. Championship: This certainly the more intriguing of the two main events. Chris Jericho doesn’t need this title, but this title needs Chris Jericho. Smackdown needs Chris Jericho to take this strap and make a star out of somebody before he moves on to feud with Edge. That said, he still has the tag titles and I don’t think that bodes well. I unhappily predict Undertaker to retain and move into a feud with Batista.

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H in a Triple Threat for the WWE Championship: This match has received less of a push than Jamie Noble. I cannot think of a WWE Title match that was booked like this. It is a complete throwaway match. No tension between HBK and Triple H. None between them and Cena. Just three guys who kind of like each other wrestling for the title? Terrible storytelling. I can’t imagine they would do the “turn on friend” story two PPVs in a row, so I go with Cena to retain.

Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, MVP, Christian, and R-Truth vs. Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, William Regal, and C.M. Punk in an elimination tag match: The traditional Survivor Series matches this year all look good. I like that Kofi gets his own team here and looks legit next to Orton. That feud will be fun to watch going forward. I’m picking Regal as the first out with Orton being the sole survivor here.

John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, and Finlay vs. The Miz, Sheamus, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre in an elimination tag match: This match could steal the show with all the athletes involved. I love Miz and Morrison so I love this match and is the one I am most looking forward to. Bourne is the first one out with Ziggler pinning Morrison to win.

Mickie James, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Melina, and Gail Kim vs. Michelle McCool, Jillian Hall, Beth Phoenix, Alicia Fox, and Layla in an elimination tag match: Good to see the ladies represented here. The Mickie James/Michelle McCool feud is really hot right now and I expect these two to finish. I’m of two minds about where this goes, but I take Beth Phoenix crushing everybody for the win. Look for Alicia to be out first.

Batista vs. Rey Mysterio: Oh me, oh my. This is the enigma of the night. I have never hid my dislike of Batista. But Rey can carry big guys very well, and Dave will do his best for his friend. This will either stink up the joint or wow us out of the building. I think it will be the latter. Rey has gotten the best of Dave for two weeks. Zero chance he walks out of this match. Dave destroys Rey who gets wheeled out.
