Jim Ross shoots down talk that he's targeting WrestleMania 26 for his return, comments on his current contractual status with WWE
Nov 20, 2009 - 01:47 PM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on whether he's targeting WrestleMania 26 for his return: "Read on line where I was returning to WWE at WrestleMania. This info was attributed to my friend and former broadcast partner Jerry Lawler. I don't know if I confused the King when we last spoke or if he was simply misquoted which is more likely but the story is not accurate. When talking with Jerry about when I was going to return, I mentioned that there was NO time table due to not knowing when the facial nerve on the right side of my face was going to kick start. I mentioned that IF it was going to be close to WrestleMania that it might be good just to wait and return at WM26. The facial nerve could ignite tomorrow...or next week...or 2-4 months from now. No one knows."

Powell's POV: It sounds like The King misspoke in the UK Sun interview. Nevertheless, it would be a great WrestleMania moment if J.R. came back at that show. Of course, he has old school values and one can only assume that he'll return to the work the moment he's physically able to do so. By the way, J.R. had more to say about his health issues in his actual blog.

-Ross on his own contractual status: "My contract negotiations with WWE are still to be finalized but, as I feel in all things regarding my life. I remain confident and positive that those contractual issues will work out to every one's satisfaction. Doing weekly TV is a grind with all my other WWE responsibilities that I execute from my home office. The travel is something that I do not miss... If you want to know exactly what is happening with my career I suggest you check out this site and my blogs because I can pretty much guarantee that I will know first unless one of my doctor's is talking to a wrestling website.

Powell's POV: I am surprised that WWE has dragged their feet on this matter. They negotiate most in-ring talent a year before their contracts expire, but apparently the same isn't true for the broadcast team. Ross has indicated in the past that his deal is up next month. I'm sure it's a long shot, but just imagine the buzz that would be created if J.R. made the jump to TNA just in time for Hulk Hogan's first appearance on the show. Oh, and no comment regarding whether J.R.'s doctor has been calling me!

Other topics include WWE Survivor Series, Kofi Kingston, and more on J.R.'s contract and health status.
