WWE ECW on “SyFy” Hits

Hurricane vs. Paul Burchill: Let’s get this one out front. The crowd was very into this and that made a good match that much better. Burchill turning to Katie Lea and begging her to help was the best sell of the night. Helms kept his mask, which honestly surprised me. Excellent match that sold me on Burchill. I hope he is coming to Smackdown.

CM Punk on ECW: A very close second, the interaction Punk had with Christian and his opening comments were fun and made me love him even more. His thing with Tiffany, not so much. But that was her not him. I thought his push was dead. It was also nice so see him get the pin on Christian. Which brings me to…

CM Punk and William Regal defeated Christian and R-Truth: Not a five star classic, but a good final match that had the misfortune of being judged next to the Hurricane/Burchill match. Christian takes the pin with zero heat loss and the heels lok good as a run up to Survivor Series. Nice work.

Overall show: Two stupid segments and a squash match could not bring down the return of Punk and the other two matches. Not the greatest hour ever, but worth watching again if you taped it.

WWE ECW on “SyFy” Misses

Zack Ryder, Rosa Mendes, and Shelton Benjamin: It occurred to me late last night why I hate this storyline: I don’t care about any of these people. You can’t get someone over in a feud if you’re not over. The banter was forced and stupid. The power tool line was so bad, I forgot to put that Ryder had hit Benjamin. What can I say? I was in a state of shock at how bad that line was.”

Vance Archer: His act hasn’t changed and neither has my opinion. He needs to fight someone other than the random guy from the 5th row. Hell, even Drew McIntyre beat up R-Truth.
