Jim Ross suggests that he might not be back calling WWE Smackdown for a few months, comments on Ric Flair's latest wedding, reports that WWE grossed over one million dollars for a single event
Nov 14, 2009 - 01:02 PM |
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.
-Ross on his health: "Grish and Striker had another nice show. I don't think that I will be needed back on Friday Night Smackdown any time soon which is a good thing for all involved for a variety of reasons... Got positive results Friday on my latest CAT SCAN this time for a lung issue. Now waiting on blood test results which I hope to have next week. I was told that the nerve in my face will regenerate likely one inch per moth so that looks like it might be 3-4 months until I'm facially ready for TV....or not....it could be next week if Mother Nature decides to give this Okie a break."
Powell's POV: It sounds like J.R. won't be back for a while. He'll be missed, but it's encouraging to see that he is continuing to rest and recover. He was at the Oklahoma Sooners football game last weekend, and wrote that he attended the women's basketball game on Friday night. In other words, it's good to know that he's able to get out and live a little despite his health issues.
-Ross on Ric Flair: "Ric Flair was on the radio remote from our place yesterday via phone and Naitch got hitched again Wednesday night at his home. Congrats to the newly weds. Ric leaves Sunday for Australia where he will wrestle four times in 14 days in addition to enjoying a honeymoon of sorts. Ric sounded in great spirits and talked football with the best of 'em."
Powell's POV: I have a hunch that J.R. is biting his tongue on this one, which is probably for the best. Best of luck to the Mr. and Mrs. Flair.
-Ross on WWE's European tour: "WWE's huge European tour is gong amazingly well with lots of dollars being generated before some big crowds. London grossed over $1M which is big time for a live event."
Powell's POV: A million bucks in one night? For all the frustration that many of us feel with the WWE product, it's numbers like this that make you realize why Vince McMahon doesn't feel the need to make dramatic changes.
Other topics include a potential big deal for J.R.'s Bar-BQ, JBL on the radio, WWE on Food Network.
