Shore's WWE Superstars Hitlist: Chavo Guerrero vs. Santino Marella, Jack Swagger vs. Primo, Tyler Reks vs. Paul Burchill, and Chris Jericho vs. Finlay
Nov 6, 2009 - 11:15 AM

WWE Superstars Hits:

Chris Jericho vs. Finlay: You have to start the hits with the best match of the night. These guys are veterans and it is always nice to see a veteran on the show, even if he isn’t putting over a new guy. The match had it’s problems. There were some small botches, and the Codebreaker looked especially rough. And the thumb wrench from hell cracked me up. But still a good match overall and it was given a good amount of time. A nice way to close the show.

Yoshi Tatsu Hype Video: I have steadfastly stated that this show should be about getting younger guys more exposure, if not get them over. This was a nice video package and gave some legitimacy to Yoshi. His in ring skills are good, but I worry about his promo ability when it comes to long term success in WWE.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Santino Marella: Like I said in my report, I hate comedic characters, so for me this is a miss. However, grading on the WWE curve, it was funny, Santino played his part perfectly, and so I give it a hit, albeit a begrudging one.

WWE Superstars Misses:

Jack Swagger vs. Primo: This miss can be summed up in one word: again. We had this match last week. And while I don’t think that beating Primo right now helps Swagger at all, I understand why they did it. But to do it two weeks in a row, and for the fourth time (I think) on Superstars in the last six months is really weak.

Tyler Reks vs. Paul Burchill: I hate to pass judgment on this because I don’t know if it was so fast because of the blood or because it was booked that way. That being said, they could have replaced it with another video package if the blood was that big of a problem, so I give this a miss.

Overall Show: Last week I gave the show a miss for being bad. This week, it was more flat than bad. This is what I think of when I use the term “throw-away show.” Superstars has been pretty good at times and I hope we get back to the formula that worked so well when it started.
