WWE News: Democrats accuse WWE of making illegal in-kind campaign contributions to Linda McMahon
Nov 2, 2009 - 11:49 AM |
State Democratic party chairwoman Nancy DiNardo filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission after WWE staffers ordered Youtube to remove videos from its website before they became campaign fodder against Linda McMahon, according to the Hartford Courant.
"A search of YouTube using the phrase 'WWE' continues to produce almost 500,000 results,'' the complaint states. "Thus, it appears that WWE only ordered YouTube to remove the videos that may be damaging to Ms. McMahon's campaign, and neglected to protect WWE's other copyrighted material and intellectual property." To read the full story, visit Courant.com.
Powell's POV: The Democrats allege that WWE officials ordered staffers to remove video footage that would have made Linda look bad (Katie Vick angle, etc.). WWE officials claimed at the time that they always ask Youtube to remove their copyrighted material, but the Democrats feel that they specifically asked for specific videos to be pulled from Youtube.
