WWE Smackdown taping
Rochester, N.Y.
Report by Dot Net reader Chris Tschiderer
1. Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison by countout.
Ziggler got him counted out by slamming him on the announcers table. Morrison got a decent pop and Ziggler and decent heat. There were good spots but pretty disapointing.
2. Beth Phoenix defeated a jobber.
Not much to say about this. Beth did a nice stalling suplex (not sure if thats whats its called) that the crowd was pretty impressed by.
3. Matt Hardy defeated Eric Escobar (w/Vickie Guerrero). Hardy won with either a neck breaker or a Twist of Fate (couldn't tell). Big pop for Matt and, unsurprisingly, huge heat for vickie (but zero heat for Escobar). Lame match that showed Escobar shouldn't be getting pushed.
There was a Rey Mysterio and Batista segment. I was shocked about how much the crowd sided with Batista. You could tell Rey was getting pissed at everyone during the "What?" chants. My guess is that the chants will be edited out.
4. Drew Mcintyre vs Finlay went to no contest. McIntyre attacked finaly before the match started. Waste of time. McIntyre got no heat for his attack.
5. C.M. Punk defeated Scott Armstrong. There was really no point of this other than to give Punk heat. Armstrong got in a few underdog punched but that was about it.
6. Chris Jericho defeated Kane to earn a spot in the World Hvt. Championship match at Survivor Series. Jericho won with a Codebreaker in mid air when Kane was going for the top rope clothesline. The crowd was with Kane the whole time, but there were major Jericho fans in the building (including me). Pretty fun match.
Dark Match
1. Undertaker defeated C.M. Punk to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. About half of the people left the arena. But since I heard that this match was booked, I stayed and finally got to see the Undertaker. Massive pop for Taker (biggest of the night). Taker won with a Tombstone after reversing Punk's GTS. Boring match with little to no nearfalls.
Overall, it wasn't a great show when it comes to matches, and the crowd was silent for some matches, but I love live shows so I enjoyed it a lot.
