10/13 WWE Smackdown in Lexington, Ky.: More details on the tapings for Friday's show with Batista vs. Rey Mysterio, Team Smackdown wrestlers revealed
Oct 14, 2009 - 12:10 PM

WWE Smackdown taping
Lexington, Ky. at Rupp Arena
Report by Dot Net Member Terri Bey

The show starts with Teddy Long coming out and announcing that Smackdown will have their own seven-man team. He put over Smackdown.

Jericho comes out to the ring and gives his usual promo about us fans being hypocrites, and loving DX, and making fun of people who bought DX's merchandise. He had the DX book with him and tore it up, saying that as captain of the Smackdown team he will destroy DX. Kane comes out and states that he (Kane) is co-captain of the team.

1. Dolph Ziggler defeated Mike Knox and Finlay in a Team Smackdown qualifying match. The match was okay. Knox appeared to hurt his knee during the match. Ziggler won the match by pinning Knox. After the match, Knox was led to the back with help from the ref.

2. Cryme Tyme defeated The Hart Dynasty in a Team Smackdown qualifying match. JTG pinned Kid. Fun match.

Backstage segment with Jericho and Michelle McCool and introducing the new SD Divas - Mickie James and Beth Phoenix. Both James and Phoenix told Michelle they wanted her belt.

Backstage segment with Punk and Vince McMahon. Punk wanted a rematch with Taker with the same ref, Scott Armstrong, and Teddy at ringside. Vince acted like he never heard of someone screwing someone in the ring before, referencing the match that will never die (i.e. Montreal). Punk gets his one-on-one rematch in a submissions match.

Vickie Guerrero comes out introducing her new boyfriend, Eric Escobar. The crowd hated her.

3. Eric Escobar beat Matt Hardy in a Team Smackdown qualifier.. Escobar had help from Vickie distracting the ref. Post match, Eric and Vickie celebrated. The match was okay. Escobar is just passable.

The Dirt Sheet segment was just awesome. The best thing on the show. The Miz and Morrison just spewed insults at each other. Miz said Morrison was the next Marty Jennetty, and Morrison said Miz was "husky" (meaning Miz was fat) and made fun of Miz' looks. Both Miz and Morrison were very strong on the mic. Morrison challenged Miz and then Miz left the ring, backing off. Great segment.

4. Drew McIntyre beat R Truth in a Team Smackdown qualifier. The match was just so so. Before the match, R Truth did his "what's up" and mentioned Lexington, KY, getting the cheap pop.

5. Rey Mysterio defeated Batista. I thought it was a good match. They started off slowly , but the match picked up and I liked it. Rey rolled up Batista after a hurracanrana for the win. Batista let Rey celebrate. CM Punk came out of nowhere and attacked Rey and then ran off into the crowd, taunting them from a safe distance.

Dark Match

1. Undertaker beat CM Punk. The match was okay. Taker looks old and slow. Just not the Taker in the past. He limped quite a bit as well. Taker did get a huge pop when he came out.
