Jim Ross provides an update on fellow WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin and his next movie, the health of Steve "Dr. Death" Williams, Ric Flair's title belt being auctioned off
Oct 8, 2009 - 04:19 PM |
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.
-Ross on Steve Austin: "Got an email from old pal Steve Austin late last night. He's in the UK promoting his next film 'Damage' which will be released imminently on DVD. I've seen the trailer and liked what I saw and plan on supporting Steve by purchasing this action packed, fight filled film when it becomes available. Many Austin fans waited some 13 hours to be a part of a signing there this week. Steve also detailed seeing his first soccer game in person and he told me that he had a blast and had a better understanding and appreciation for the game."
Powell's POV: I'm more intrigued by Austin's next movie than I am for some of WWE's straight-to-DVD releases. I'll give this one a chance before adding "The Marine 2" to my Blockbuster online account.
-Ross on Steve Williams: "Another old friend, Steve 'Dr. Death' Williams is battling cancer again as the deadly disease has returned after Doc had been cancer free almost five years. The cancer is in Doc's Stoma and surgery or radiation aren't options but chemotherapy is. Doc is an amazing man who remains steadfast in his faith in God and his unintimidating stance on beating cancer for a second time. Please say a prayer and think good thoughts about Steve as he once again finds himself in another fight."
Powell's POV: Best of luck to Doc. Don't forget that you can help out in the drive to raise money for a hands free voice box via WrestlersRescue.org.
-Ross on Ric Flair: "75K is the asking price for Ric Flair's coveted NWA World Title Belt? Wow...good luck on getting that number to the party selling the treasure. This is not a positive development in the big picture, at least in my humble opinion, and it quite frankly makes me sad. But it is also none of my business."
Powell's POV: The story is that Flair used the belt as collateral and then never returned money he was given, so a wrestling DVD company has decided to auction the belt with the opening bid of $75,000. It seems steep, but so did the asking price for Barry Bonds's baseball, so what do I know?
Other topics include Jack Swagger, Jerry Lawler, Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak, and more.
