Former WWE wrestler says WWE "dropped the ball" by giving up on his character
Oct 1, 2009 - 02:00 PM

Former WWE wrestler Kevin Thorn (a/k/a Kevin Fertig) told Eric Cohen of About.com that WWE dropped the ball by giving up on his character before the vampire craze started thanks to "Twilight" movie and the "True Blood" television show.

"They fumbled and dropped the ball and whatever else you can say," Thorn said. "They lost out big time on that one. We were way ahead of the game with that character and things that could have been done with the character. I still shake my head, I don’t get it.

"But hey, it’s Vince’s toy. He gets to do whatever he wants with it. He’s the final word. He didn’t want a vampire. Guess what, he didn’t have to have a vampire." To read the full interview, visit About.com.

Powell's POV: Fair point by Thorn, as there's no denying the popularity of the movie or TV show that was mentioned. The Thorn and Ariel (a/k/a Shelly Martinez) act was solid and seemed to be getting over when WWE pulled the plug.
