Linda McMahon's Senate campaign immaturely put down by uninformed Hartford columnist
Sep 27, 2009 - 01:38 PM

From the "you knew this was coming" file, Hartford Courant columnist Kevin Rennie wrote in depth about former WWE CEO Linda McMahon and her U.S. Senate campaign. Of course, like many journalists writing or reporting about anything involving professional wrestling, this joker did not do his homework.

The article made it a point to address an on screen angle during a show when Linda kicked announcer Jim Ross in the balls. He made reference to the "fortune" the McMahons have made by promoting Doink, Slick, Razor Ramon, and Psycho Sid. He even threw in the laugh out loud funny wrestling puns that I am sure nobody else has though of before.

To his credit, Rennie did do his homework regarding Linda's campaign donations over the years and WWE's "Smackdown Your Vote" program. Of course, being the CEO of a publicly traded company will warrant different spending practices, so Linda's donating to both parties in that role should not come as much of a surprise. Twill's Two Cents: Ever since Nancy Grace made a fool of herself interviewing Bret Hart about Chris Benoit, it has been frustrating to me anytime someone in the mainstream media makes their stereotypical comments about wrestling. Most of all, it is acceptable to write stories and be way off about their wrestling related content. If a journalist did this about anything else, they would be chastised and possibly fired. Okay, rant over.
