Former WWE star Rick Martel told the UK Sun recently that he's encountered some health issues since he last appeared on television. "In the last few years of my career I had pain in my lower back area and it wouldn't go away," Martel said. "Even after I retired in 1998 I still had a bit of pain there. So I went to hospital and they took some X-rays and I found out it was in my lower back with my hips. I had two hip replacements, so I have two artificial hips now."

Martel stated that this hasn't stopped WWE or TNA from contacting him. "They've been in touch a couple of times," he said. "In fact the WWE approached me about four or five years ago when I was living in Florida and asked me to be a road agent. I thought about it, for a few minutes, and said 'no'. I have a young daughter and couldn't go back on the road. At Night of Champions they asked me again and that time I didn't even think about it. I politely declined the offer."
