Dot Net WWE News - Early buzz regarding the WWE Hall of Fame
Sep 9, 2009 - 01:53 PM

There isn't a great deal of pressure within WWE to deliver a heavy hitter for the Hall of Fame ceremonies. There are many within the company who would love to get Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to accept the honor one of these years, and there are also people who would love to convince Vince McMahon to invite Randy Savage, yet the feeling is that the WWE Hall of Fame has developed enough name value as part of WrestleMania weekend that they don't need to deliver a huge name each year.

Powell's POV: The feeling is that the company can score enough notable names from the past who may not be mega-stars, yet would still satisfy viewers as a package deal. For that matter, the company can also use big name presenters as they did with Johnson when he inducted his father and grandfather.

It will be interesting to see whether a successful NFL season or two from James Laurinaitis would get people within the company discussing the idea of inducting The Road Warriors with the obvious goal of scoring the St. Louis Rams rookie linebacker as the inductor.

Although Joe Laurinaitis (a/k/a Animal) is the brother of WWE VP John Laurinaitis, he has burned some bridges within the company that don't exactly help his cause. However, the appeal of getting a star NFL player at the HOF might be too much for WWE to pass on. Of course, James hasn't even played a regular season game yet, so there's no guarantee he'll become a star despite his impressive college career.
