WWE News: Vince McMahon says his product has been misunderstood, says there's no need for agents to represent wrestlers in contract negotiations
Aug 24, 2009 - 09:17 AM

Vince McMahon commented on the switch to PG programming in a lengthy Los Angles Times article. "People have misunderstood our product," McMahon said. He added that the ratings switched has "allowed people to take another look at us, and it has broadened our horizons with sponsors."

The article also notes the fact that most WWE wrestlers don't use outside representation, and includes Big Show praising his boss. "Vince will take care of you," Show said.

Vince admitted he doesn't care for agents. "I'm not a real fan of agents," said McMahon. "As long as you are fair with everyone, why would you have an agent?" Vince also stated that some top WWE wrestlers earn "several million dollars a year." To read the full story, check out LATimes.com.

Powell's POV: As great as the Attitude Era was, WWE was just plain raunchy at times, so I don't believe the company was misunderstood. Vince's agent line is hilarious. Promoters and owners from all sports and entertainment would prefer to deal with talent because most are not as well versed in negotiating or up to speed on fair compensation as agents are. There are plenty sleazy agents around, but the presence of a quality agent insures that their clients get fair deals from management.
