WWE SummerSlam Feedback: "I'm trying to only focus on the positives in life lately... so to me, SummerSlam was really short, and only two matches long"

So, I'm trying to only focus on the positives in life lately. It's an 'I only shop at Whole Foods now' kind of change, so to me, SummerSlam was really short, and only two matches long. Dolph Ziggler and Rey Mysterio had a great match. Dolph really stepped up, and I'm looking forward to seeing act three of their feud.

The second match of SummerSlam, of course, was C.M. Punk and Jeff Hardy's incredible TLC match. It's hard to put together words sincere enough to describe the show that these two put on. Hardy's last flight will be one for the history books, and CM Punk was stepped up as a heel on Chris Jericho's level. Taker's surprise return was great. I hadn't noticed the switch and marked out a bit when he reached up for the chokeslam. Fingers crossed that Undertaker builds Punk up instead of taking the title at the next PPV.

All in all, a great PPV and a memorable outing for the WWE. I can't help but wonder why Randy Orton, John Cena, DX, Legacy, Jerishow, Cryme Tyme, and Kane weren't on the card. I guess someone had to cover shifts at the cafeteria Shawn's been working in...

A really good show by WWE. Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler had one hell of a opening match for Summerslam '09. Jack Swagger and MVP promo was very good but should have happen on Raw so the match could have been given more time on pay-per-view. Kane and The Great Khali was what most of thought it would be. Cryme Tyme vs Jerishow was good. Even though they lost Cryme Tyme stepped up with a good match tonight. Jerishow had to win Raw needs them.

The DX entrance was really nice. You just new they were going over after that entrance, though. Legacy and DX had a damn good match. It was the best pay-per-view tag match in WWE in a long time. The ECW Title match had to be cut short for time, but it sets up ECW TV for sure. Yes, John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Title was overbooked, but it also left you on the edge of your seat. The right man won. Jeff Hardy vs. C.M. Punk was a classic match (even with HBK vs. Taker from Mania 25 for MOTY so far).

A very good PPV as far as I am concerned. Entertaining from start to finish, and I'm sure Mr. McMahon won't have to ask why the WWE can't produce new stars (Here's looking at you, Dolph Ziggler...and PLEASE give Jack Swagger vs. MVP more time! Enough of this 5-6 minute crap). And could that have been Brett DiBiase involved in the John Cena vs. Randy Orton match? Hmm.

I usually just sit back and enjoy the show, but sometimes things get in the way. I appreciate great commentary on a match, and can settle on pretty good, but horrible is inexcusable. What a contrast between the team of Todd Grisham and Jim Ross, and the team of Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. I have always seen the difference during Raw, but the lackluster mike work between Cole and Lawler is always illuminated during PPV's. Something's gotta give.

Powell's POV: For those who missed the note on the main page, yes, "the fan" was Brett DiBiase. Nice guess!
