7/27 WWE Raw onsite report: A full recap of Triple H's birthday party with Vince McMahon and a surprise appearance by Batista
Jul 28, 2009 - 10:26 AM

Dot Net reader "Edgehead27" attended Monday's Raw and sent the following report.

After the match, Triple H went out to mingle with the crowd at ringside, and got on the mic. He said he didn't want to fall victim for a setup for his birthday and ran to the back. John Cena got on the mic and told the crowd to start chanting for HHH to come back. Eventually, Vince McMahon walked out to the ring and said he was going to sing unless Hunter came back out to the ring immediately. Finally Hunter emerged and embraced his father-in-law in the ring. Then the rest of the Raw roster came out and Vince got everybody to sing happy birthday to Hunter together (including the crowd).

At some point everybody started throwing cake at Triple H, who got on the mic and said he didn't want Mark Henry to eat him. Funny. Suddenly, Batista's music and Titantron hit...the place went crazy! Batista came out in a Nationals shirt with his own birthday cake for Hunter. Big Show held Triple H down as Batista tried to nail him with his cake, but Triple H ducked and Big Show got nailed! Funny stuff.

Batista threw what was left of the cake at Vince, who freaked out and walked to the back. After everyone but Batista and Hunter had left, they started posing for the crowd and mingling with everyone. Hunter got on the mic to thank everyone, and hugged Batista at the top of the stage before they exited.

Overall, a very fun show. The Verizon Center looked sold out, and the fans were lively when WWE gave them a reason to be. Lots of Triple H and Batista shirts, but TONS of Cena merchandise. Attending these events live reminds you why Vince is so reluctant to turn him heel. Another thing you really notice live is how much more of a reaction these guys get the first time they come out as opposed to second (or third) times they appear. This was especially noticeable with Randy Orton, Shaq, and Cryme Tyme.

Biggest Pops
1. John Cena (not even close)
2. Batista (after the show during Hunter's birthday celebration)
3. Triple H
4. Shaq (the first time he came out)
5. Cryme Tyme (the first time they came out)

Most Heat
1. The Miz (mocking my beloved Wizards and the Redksins...how could he!)
2. Chris Jericho
3. Shaq's Lebron James remark (we hate him in DC!)
4. Randy Orton
5. The Hart Dynasty
