WWE Night of Champions onsite report: Notes and observations from a fan who took his son to his first live pay-per-view event

Dot Net reader Brian Baull of Dagsboro, Del. attended the WWE Night of Champions show in Philadelphia, Pa. and filed the following report late last night.
Just got back from my 244-mile round trip from Delaware to the Wachovia Center and back again for my (and my 13-year-old son's) first ever PPV event!
You know the results, here's some random stuff from my seats in Section 105:
-Despite what was announced, the Wachovia Center was NOT "sold out"...there were several places throughout the building where empty seats could be seen -- even in the more expensive floor seats I saw empty chairs.
-When they intro'd the announce teams, big pops for Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross.
-The pyro is LOUD in person compared to at home! We were on the other side of the entrance aera, and when some of those concussion blasts went off we could feel them where we were...not as much as I've seen then use on other PPV's, but cool nonetheless.
As for the matches:
1. Rhodes and DiBiase vs. Show and Jericho: Kinda confused as to who to boo (lol)...Rhodes and DiBiase are bad guys, but Jericho and Show are too? Show and Jericho were the "faces" to the crowd on hand.
2. Dreamer vs. Christian: good response for Dreamer, but crowd was more into Christian.
3. Kingston vs. Miz vs. Carlito vs. Primo vs. MVP vs. Swagger: With Show out of the match because of the tag team stuff, nice pop when MVP came out...crowd REALLY hated Miz! Every time he got nailed, they cheered. Kofi got a nice crowd reaction as well.
4. They changed the ring canvas on two occasions during the event...not sure why, maybe it looked better to the HD viewers I guess.
5. McCool vs. Melina: Everybody reacted big time when Melina did her split and McCool kicked her to the floor -- nobody was expecting that! pretty cool match -- when Melina screamed, we could hear her all the way up where we were sitting!
6. Orton vs. Cena vs. Triple H: Everyone was VERY surprised this match took place so early in the night! The Philly fans were split on Cena, popped big for Triple H, and even BIGGER for Orton! Ending was extremely "mucked up" and we figured the title would be held up -- then Legacy interferes, and RKO time...Orton retains.
7. Marsye vs. Mickie James: I felt bad for both of them, because they had to follow three of the biggest stars in the WWE...crowd went flat. Sorry ladies.
8. Mysterio vs. Diggler: Big pop for Rey Rey -- and plenty of kids sporting Mysterio masks too. Diggler is poised to be the next big star...he's got the looks, talent -- I just wish they'd get rid of that hideous name!
9. Hardy vs. Punk: Best match of the night, hands down -- especially the end with the false finishes and Hardy kicking out of a wicked GTS by Punk, to finish it with his third Swanton Bomb of the match!
Best Matches:
1. Hardy/Punk
2. Mysterio/Diggler - Cena/Orton/Triple H (tie)
3. Kingston/Miz/Primo/Carlito/MVP/Swagger
Biggest POPS of the night:
1. Jeff Hardy
2. Rey Mysterio/Triple H (tie)
3. John Cena (see below)
Biggest HEAT of the night:
1. Randy Orton
2. CM Punk/The Miz (tie)
3. John Cena (see above)
The best part -- my son got to see his first PPV with his dad, and that's a memory that I'll treasure for years...thanks WWE!
