Jerry Lawler stated in a radio interview earlier this week that he would retire from wrestling if he is elected mayor of Memphis roughly 90 days from now. However, he did not specify whether he would give up his WWE color commentary position. Lawler's long-time friend Jim Ross noted in his latest blog that mayor is a full-time job and he cannot hold another job.

"I had some fun on one of my blogs earlier in the week about King NOT running for Mayor," Ross went on to write. "However, after communicating with Jerry, seeing how serious he is about making a difference in his hometown and his desire to help all the people of Memphis, I not only endorse Jerry's candidacy but am very proud of him for wanting to do such an honorable thing for the people of Memphis."
