Steve Austin refers to Hulk Hogan as bitter and insecure, leaves the door open for a return to the ring
Mar 20, 2008 - 12:57 PM

Steve Austin pulled no punches during an interview with the UK Sun when he was asked for a response to Hulk Hogan taking shots at him in interviews. “He’s just a bitter insecure guy,” Austin said. “I give him all the credit in the world, because I’ve watched a lot of his career unfold and the Hulkamania thing was one of the biggest things ever.

“But believe me I’ve been around the entertainment business since the back end of 1989, and if there’s one thing you’re going to find out it’s that if you’ve got thin skin you’re probably in the wrong business. So there’s not a damn thing Hogan can say to rile me up or charge me up. I’m secure in the career that I’ve had and everything I did. It makes me laugh when he’s got to do that, because I really think it makes him look like a chump.”

Austin also left the door open for a possible return to the ring. “I take that never say never approach to having a last match,” he said. “For a while I just said: No, it will never happen.’ But how knows?... And I’m not saying this to get everybody up. It would have to be the most perfect set up in the whole world, for all the stars to align, for it to happen. The chances are few and far between of it happening. But could it? Damn. Maybe. To listen to an audio version of the entire interview, visit the UK Sun.

Powell’s POV: It’s hard to argue with Austin’s comments on Hogan. He was at least open to the idea of working a match with Hogan at one time, but they had a falling out and Austin has been consistent in saying he won’t work with Hulk ever since. I’m not sure what it would take to get Austin back in the ring, but you can be certain that WWE will continue to throw ideas his way.
