WWE is keeping their options open regarding whether C.M. Punk is a babyface or a heel. They view him as a babyface now, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, but they will make him a heel if he gets booed heavily in his upcoming pay-per-view match against Jeff Hardy. At this point, they are not committed either way.


Powell's POV: I still wonder whether they are keeping their options open partly due to Hardy's uncertain status with the company. If Hardy leaves, they will be short on babyfaces, although Undertaker should be back later this summer and they could always turn a heel such as Edge. I like the tweener role, but I'd love to see Punk play the heel Straight Edge character he used in ROH.
