WWE issues a statement on the death of Japanese pro wrestling legend Mitsuharu Misawa
Jun 14, 2009 - 02:07 PM |
WWE senior vice president of talent relations John Laurinaitis issued a statement on the WWE website regarding the death of Mitsuharu Misawa. "On behalf of WWE, we were deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of Mitsuharu Misawa," Laurinaitis wrote.
"We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and fans. Misawa will be remembered as one of the all-time greats in Japan." You can check out the statement by visiting WWE.com.
Powell's POV: Classy move by Laurinaitis and WWE. I wish it was featured a little more prominently on the WWE website rather than in the Industry News section, but I give them credit for acknowledging his death. Here's hoping they take it a step further by featuring a graphic at the beginning of Monday's Raw. Laurinaits worked extensively in Japan during his in-ring career, so he was a logical choice to issue the statement.
