Jim Ross comments on the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the ladder match with Jeff Hardy and Edge, and new World Hvt. Champion C.M. Punk
Jun 8, 2009 - 09:21 AM

Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on WWE Extreme Rules: "Seemed like, biased opinion, Smackdown had the two best bouts of the night. The IC Title match and the Ladder match. Duh. Lots of sore, bruised men after the show. Trainers and doctors seemed to be busy. My hats off to those that worked their asses off."

Powell's POV: J.R. is right on with his assessment. The two advertised Smackdown title matches stole the show. I'll have more to say about it in the WWE Raw Hitlist later today.

-Ross Edge vs. Jeff Hardy: "Edge vs Jeff was the match of the night. The bar has been raised so high on these types of bouts that I don't know what some hardcore fans expect but on a personal level, I loved this one. The risks these guys took were amazing and uncomfortable to witness so up close."

Powell's POV: It was a gem. As we stated in Dot Net Members' audio last night, there were enough big spots, yet they didn't go overboard to the point that the bumps stopped meaning anything. I really enjoyed the match.

-Ross on C.M. Punk: "The Punk cashing in on the Money in the Bank contract completely surprised me. Some will like it, some might not but it certainly had fans I spoke with talking. Where all this goes has my interest. I'm happy it will be on Friday nights."

Powell's POV: I didn't see it coming, not that I'm complaining. I wish Smackdown was on Monday night because I'm looking forward to that show much more than tonight's Raw.

Other topics include the WWE Superstars main event, Tommy Dreamer winning the ECW Title, and John Cena vs. Big Show.
