Jeff Hardy says he's toned down his in-ring style, says he loves WWE, yet realizes there's more to life than pro wrestling
Jun 4, 2009 - 06:07 PM

Dot Net reader Agahzi sent the following recap of Jeff Hardy's Thursday appearance on the "Bubba The Love Sponge" radio show.

Hardy put over the PPV, including going over the whole card. He talked about the injury he suffered last week at Smackdown. He said he ran in too fast and cut a chunk of meat from under his eye.

Bubba talked about the style Hardy works and asked if Jeff worries that it will catch up to him. Jeff said while he has toned it down a little bit, he is aware that his current style might catch up to him. He said he's conscious of it, but he tries not to worry about it too much.

Bubba said when he asked Hulk Hogan about Jeff, Hogan said that Jeff was extremely talented but his style will catch up to him. Hogan had said that all he did was "a stupid leg drop" and he's ended up with two fake hips. Bubba made sure to mention that Hogan thinks, "That kid is great".

Jeff told a story about first wrestling in WWE when he was 16 in a tag match that involved Razor Ramon. He said Razor beat the crap out of him. Jeff says he looks back on it and makes fun of his skinny, pale body and yellow tights. He says the next day Razor apologized for stiffing him as Razor was in a bad mood that day. The next night he worked with Sean Waltman, who he put over as a great worker. Bubba's producer, Spice, mentioned that Waltman is doing really well in Mexico.

Jeff said sometimes it's depressing on the overseas tours. The travel gets to him, but he looks forward to Thursdays and Fridays which serve as his weekends. It's easy for him to be excited about a weekend like this, working against Edge in a ladder match. Bubba brought up the first TLC tag match. Jeff gave credit to Razor and Shawn Michaels, but said he thinks the tag teams took ladder matches to the next level.

Bubba mentioned how Jeff has left the company before and returned to huge success and seems to march to his own beat. Jeff said he loves WWE, but he realizes that there are more things in life than wrestling. He said he'd be fine if he was a landscaper.

Bubba asked Jeff if he still did Motorcross. Jeff said he doesn't but he does still own a couple of bikes. He put over the Motorcross guys and is a big fan of Travis Pastrana (MTV's "Nitro Circus"). He put those guys over as doing tougher stunts than what he does in the ring.

Bubba asked Jeff if he thinks it's good that Brock Lesnar is doing well in MMA. Jeff said it's good for Brock and he thinks it's good that guys have been able to make the move to MMA. They mentioned Bobby Lashley joining the MMA ranks.

Bubba mentioned how Kurt Angle and Brock used to go shoot in the ring before the doors opened for the show. When asked who in the WWE locker room can hold their own, Jeff said Shelton Benjamin and John Morrison. He put Morrison over as a guy who can do anything in the ring and has great talent.

Jeff ran down the card once more for this Sunday's PPV before the interview ended.
