Retired pro wrestler John Tolos died on Thursday
May 29, 2009 - 03:07 PM |
Retired pro wrestler John Tolos died at the age of 78 in California on Thursday, according to WrestlingFigs.com. Tolos, who was known as "The Golden Greek," was a legend specifically in the California area and had a long running feud with Freddie Blassie. He also had a brief stint as "The Coach" in WWE, where he served as the manager of The Beverly Brothers and others. For more on the story, visit WrestlingFigs.com. [Thanks to Georgiann Makropoulos]
Powell's POV: I'm young enough that my memories of Tolos are limited to his WWE/WWF run, and his appearances in the hold UWF promotion, but I have read and heard stories about his run in California. My condolences to his family and friends.
