Dot Net Exclusive: What the WWE creative team is told when wrestlers are suspended
Mar 17, 2008 - 11:15 AM

In most cases, the WWE creative team is told little or nothing when a wrestler is suspended for violating the Wellness Policy. Stephanie McMahon generally addresses group and says little more than that the wrestler has been suspended for a certain number of days. There have been times when the creative staff has found out about the suspensions via the internet before anyone from the company informs them.

Powell’s POV: I’ve also been told that company officials rarely address public scandals such as the time Vince McMahon was accused of showing off a nude photo of himself to a tanning booth attendant. Rather, everyone just pretends to ignore the 800-pound gorilla in the room and Vince does his best to no-sell any stress he might be feeling. One of the rare exceptions was the Benoit family tragedy, as I’m told Vince and the writers had steady dialogue about that particular subject.
