Jeff Hardy is giving mixed signals to colleagues regarding whether he intends to re-sign with the company once his current deal expires. Although we previously reported that Hardy was giving friends the impression that he was open to re-signing, other colleagues say he is making it seem as if he plans to take time off without signing a new deal.

Those who believe Hardy will be taking time off without signing admire him for doing so. The locker room has taken notice that wrestlers such as Big Show and Chris Jericho have taken time off in the past and received big pushes upon returning to the company. In the past, there was fear that wrestlers who took time off would be punished via their pushes for doing so.

Powell's POV: Obviously, the wrestlers realize that you need a certain level of clout in order to leave the company and receive a big push when you return. That said, there are wrestlers who are encouraged by this development because the mindset of the locker room in the past was that it was taboo to take time off, let alone leave the company without being punished upon returning.

Only time will tell whether Hardy re-signs with the company before his contract expires, but it's interesting that different people who have spoken with him have come away with different opinions regarding his intentions. Hardy is citing burnout as the primary reason for his reluctance to sign a new deal. As previously reported, he is also shopping around a reality show idea.
