Dot Net WWE News - WWE Superstars television show notes regarding plans for the taping schedule and the broadcast team
Apr 13, 2009 - 01:36 PM

The working plan is to tape the new WWE Superstars show matches on Mondays and Tuesdays. In other words, the show is unlikely to receive its own slot for one-night tapings similar to how ECW is taped on Mondays or Tuesdays each week.

The idea is for all three brands to be represented on the show, which debuts Thursday on WGN America. Thus, they will tape matches featuring Raw wrestlers on Monday nights, and Smackdown wrestlers on Tuesday nights. Plus, the ECW wrestlers will also be included.

Although plans could change, the assumption from sources within WWE is that the new WWE Superstars show will not have its own broadcast team. Rather, the Raw crew will call matches involving Raw wrestlers that are taped on Monday, and the Smackdown announcers will call the matches involving their brand's wrestlers. The ECW broadcast team will also call matches involving the wrestlers from that brand.

Powell's POV: It's worth repeating that plans could change, as there have been plenty of discussions amongst the creative forces within the company over the last week due to tonight's WWE Draft. I assumed all along that ECW would be taped on Monday night, and the Superstars show would be taped on Tuesday with its own broadcast team, but it sounds like that's not the current plan. We should get a better understanding of the process after the television tapings this week.
