Jim Ross mentions possible WrestleMania 25 opponents for JBL and Chris Jericho, says the announcers probably won't know their WrestleMania 25 match assignments until the day of the show
Mar 10, 2009 - 04:49 PM

Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on WrestleMania 25 announcing schedule: "As an announcer, I came out of Monday night's show with plenty of material to help build a great story for any match I happen to broadcast come April 5. I refer to these matches that I may happen to call because I don't realistically think that I will know what bouts I will call until the day of WrestleMania. No worries at all on my end as any announcer worth his salt, or catering, will prepare to call all the bouts booked on any given show especially WrestleMania."

Powell's POV: WWE won't tell the announcers which match they'll be calling until the day of the show? How unprofessional is that? Something tells me that the top broadcasters in other sports never have to worry about issues like this. Ross is being a good sport, but that's ridiculous. By the way, Ross calls the Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels match or we riot.

-Ross on JBL and Vladimir Kozlov: "How a hard headed, know it all Texan is going to get along with a pure bred, Russian is beyond me. If JBL has issues with Kozlov next Monday then we might have our selves an IC champ that will be the locals favorite in Houston against, potentially, a Russian. Who are the Texas fans going to invest in emotionally, a Texan or a Russian? The over/under for JBL's hook 'em horns sign is about a million."

Powell's POV: Is J.R. hinting that we'll see a JBL vs. Kozlov match at WrestleMania 25 or is this just a match he'd like to see? I guess we'll find out on Monday.

-Ross on Chris Jericho and Jerry Lawler: "it seems inevitable that somewhere down the road that based on what the King has said on multiple times that it doesn't take a rocket scientist or a Hollywood movie Mogul to figure out that a pending Lawler vs Jericho bout has got to happen some time, somewhere simply based on Lawler's comments on Raw."

Powell's POV: Lawler has been mentioned as a candidate for Jericho's opponent at WM25. I'd love to see The King get the long awaited WrestleMania match, but I have a feeling that fans would be let down if he is revealed as Jericho's opponent at the big show.

Other topics include Koko B. Ware, the John Cena, Edge, and Big Show saga, and the Taker vs. HBK buildup.
