The Rock wants a zero tolerance policy for steroids in wrestling, says he’s wrestled his last match

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is featured in an interview in Friday’s UK Sun. In addition to reiterating that he’s wrestled his last match, Johnson commented on the steroid issue in pro wrestling. “They’re taking the appropriate steps to implement much stricter policies,” Johnson said. “An epidemic started and they had to act. We need to have a zero tolerance policy in place.
“We have a great responsibility as athletes, actors, and celebrities to children, because we are very influential... I never felt I needed to do that. I never wanted to be the biggest guy. I wanted to be the most entertaining.” To read the full story, visit the UK Sun.
Powell’s POV: It’s amazing that Rock got so much smaller when he stopped wrestling even though he was no longer traveling constantly and presumably had more free time to train. I don’t know whether Johnson used performance-enhancing drugs, but I wish mainstream reporters would ask athletes whether they used an illegal performance enhancing drug such as human growth hormone and testosterone as opposed to always asking about steroids.
I suspect there are several athletes who dance around the subject because the media continues to bring up steroids and, technically, these athletes may not have used steroids. Athletes would have every right to pass on answering the question and many would probably lie through their teeth, but the word steroid is not all-encompassing.
