Jim Ross comments on Chris Benoit’s HOF chances, why his restaurant no longer carries WWE PPVs, Chris Harris
Mar 2, 2008 - 11:08 PM

Jim Ross updated the Q&A section of his website. To read the full entry, check out JRsbarbq.com.

-Ross on Chris Benoit’s chances of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame: “My assumption would be ‘highly unlikely.’ That’s unfortunate too.

Powell’s POV: I’ll have more to say about Benoit in my blog on Monday.

-Ross explains why his restaurant stopped carrying WWE pay-per-views: “We decided to stop carrying the pay-per-views because many people, unlike you apparently, came to the restaurant very early, ordered a soft drink and stayed 3-4 hours watching the PPV and not spending another dime.”

Powell’s POV: This is not an isolated incident. I’ve heard similar stories over the years about how notoriously cheap some wrestling fans are when it comes to the money they spend at establishments that provide them with free pay-per-view. For whatever reason, I’ve been told that the MMA fans who watch UFC shows at the same establishments are more willing to spend money on food and drinks. That UFC runs on Saturday nights might have something to do with customers being more inclined to have a few drinks, but some wrestling fans are just plain cheap. I’m not saying we’re all cheap, but some fit that description and you know who you are!

-Ross on commentary changes: “The announcers are purposely and by design laying out more so the fans at home can hear more of the natural sounds that are provided by the wrestlers, etc.”

-Ross on Chris Harris: “I have no idea what the plans are at this time for Chris Harris. I don’t even know if Chris Harris will make the ‘starting lineup.’ I wish him will but he has a great deal of hard work and an entirely different schedule and level of pressure awaiting him.”

Are you more likely to watch WWE Smackdown because Vince McMahon is advertised?
Yes. Big things tend to happen when Vince is on the show.
No. Advertising Vince won't change my viewing habits.
I'm actually less likely to watch the show because Vince is advertised.
