Jim Ross comments on the fans cheering when Randy Orton pinned Batista at the WWE Survivor Series, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels celebrate big anniversaries
Nov 24, 2008 - 10:42 PM

Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on the fans cheering Randy Orton: "It was obvious that many in Boston enjoyed seeing Randy Orton beat Batista. Orton is young and defiant like many fans. I'm curious to see how this matter materializes. Orton is an anti-hero and anti-heroes sell tickets in today's world."

Powell's POV: Batista remains one of the most popular wrestlers on the WWE roster, so it's not a big deal if the rebellious fans cheered for Orton. I think the fans like Orton because he's been saying what's on a lot of their minds lately regarding the state of WWE and some of the wrestlers.

-Ross on Taker's anniversary: "Special night for the Undertaker, as Sunday commemorated Taker's WWE debut in 1990. What a run this man has had. I have much respect for longevity in this business. That's the true mark of a HOF career in my eyes. Headlining major events over the long haul is an amazing accomplishment."

Powell's POV: It really is amazing that Taker's career has lasted this long. I still remember hearing back in 1998 that he was having physical problems and was hopeful of getting another year or two in before hanging up the boots.

-Ross on another Survivor Series milestone: "Did anyone out perform HBK Sunday night? Michaels's first Survivor Series was in 1988 and he's still as good as anyone in the biz."

Powell's POV: I can't argue that statement regarding HBK's status in the industry. I doubt they'll give him the Slammy Award for best wrestler in a couple weeks, but he gets my vote for his tremendous matches with Ric Flair and Chris Jericho alone.

Other topics include Steve Austin, the first person Taker pinned, and more Survivor Series notes.
