WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross on a potential FOX Sports deal, Paul Heyman DVD project, and his WrestleMania weekend one man show venue
Jan 12, 2014 - 11:22 AM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.

-Ross on working with FOX Sports: "I have not yet signed with Fox but we are obviously close and are hopeful that we can finalize the contract next week. Fox provides an amazing platform for creative work and for the many projects that I am working on during the most unretired time of my life. Fox has some potentially, amazing creative ideas for me of which I hope that we get to collaborate on sooner than later."

Powell's POV: Ross wrote a piece for FOX Sports that we have linked to on the main page regarding the Ric Flair controversy in the Carolinas. For a guy that WWE claimed was retired, Ross sure has a lot of irons in the fire. Between his one-man show, potential podcast deals, and now FOX Sports, the man is hustling more than any "retiree" I've ever seen.

-Ross on WrestleMania weekend show: "I'm told that we will finalize our NOLA dates for 'RINGSIDE' during WM30 week this Monday. It looks as if the House of Blues will be our venue. The day and times are still to be finalized as well as when tickets will go on sale of which I hope will be in the next few days. If you are coming to WM30 please plan on attending one of our shows."

Powell's POV: This could be a tough ticket, as Wikipedia lists the French Quarter venue as having a capacity of 843. In other words, if you plan to attend the one man show(s) during WrestleMania weekend, you should act quickly to make sure you aren't left out. We'll run the details on the main page once it's made official.

-Ross on a Paul Heyman DVD: "Been asked by WWE to be a part of the upcoming Paul Heyman DVD of which I'm anxious to participate. Once details are worked out we will schedule a time for me to head to WWE HQ and tell a few...dozen Heyman stories. I'm very honored to have been requested to be a part of this production as it was me who gave Paul his first broadcast gig and taught him the ropes as best that I could. Paul was so high strung and outspoken that many within WCW did not want to work with him but I saw talent in the abrasive albeit highly intelligent Jewish kid from Scarsdale, N.Y."

Powell's POV: It's good to see that while WWE feels Ross is "retired" that they recognize the need for him to take part in a Heyman DVD. Ross and Heyman have been friends, enemies, broadcast partners, and now friends again. I don't know how a Heyman DVD will sell, but I want it in my small collection for the great promos alone. By the way, that DVD collection is going to be even smaller since I assume so much of the footage will be available on the WWE Network.

Other topics include the status of his Podcast One deal, WrestleMania 17, updated Q&A's, retirement, and more.
