WWE News: Jerry Lawler discusses the health scare at Old School Raw, explains why he was pulled from commentary
Jan 9, 2014 - 09:42 AM

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler appeared on the WREG.com (WREG-3 television) morning show in Memphis to discuss his heal scare on Monday. Lawler said he went out for lunch with his girlfriend and said his stomach felt "queasy" before his food arrived. He said Lauren contacted Brian Lawler (a/k/a Grand Master Sexay) and informed him, and he told other wrestlers and the word spread that he was feeling nauseas.

Lawler was sent to a hospital for medical evaluation. Although it turned out that he was battling a minor stomach flu, Lawler said Vince McMahon made the pull him from commentary as a precautionary measure. Lawler noted that there was even more fan concern because he did not appear on the show. He said it was merely a 24-hour virus that his girlfriend is now battling.

Powell's POV: I continue to question decision to tease viewers with an app update rather than having Lawler appear on the actual television show. Lawler was interviewed briefly on the app and said he was fine and hanging out backstage with the other legends. Had WWE simply aired that interview on the television show rather than using it as a ploy to get viewers to check out the app, they could have put a lot more minds at ease and not created an ironic moment when Gene Okerlund did a spoof of his old 1-900 Hotline ads. Of course, the most important thing is that Lawler received medical clearance and appears to be fine.
