Jim Ross comments on Brock Lesnar returning to UFC rumors, a UFC 168 fighter who has what it takes to be successful in WWE, WrestleMania weekend shows
Dec 28, 2013 - 02:00 PM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.

-Ross on Brock Lesnar: "Rumor of the week is Brock Lesnar returning to UFC. I find that one a little far fetched. Diverticulitis isn't something that is to be taken lightly, of this I know what I speak, and returning to the Octagon under those circumstances makes zero sense to me. Brock has a sweet gig in WWE working a handful of dates a year for which I assume is a healthy, 7 figure income. It's a part time gig of which Brock is very good at and earning that kind of money is a bird's nest on the ground. Unless an athlete was broke as hell, and Brock isn't, there is no legit motivation to return to the Octagon and give it one more shot."

Powell's POV: I am just as curious as anyone to see if the rumors are true. I watched the footage of Dana White saying he honestly had no idea what the rumors were about and he struggled to hide his smile. Something is up, but whether it's a return to the octagon remains to be seen. It should be an interesting night.

-Ross on the UFC 168 fighter who has what it takes to make the WWE jump: "On a side note, Josh Barnett would likely make a viable, pro wrestler, of which he has done in the past, when his UFC days are over for some promotion. He's the kind of guy a company like WWE could sign, polish him up and vignette him all the way to a major main event position for, at worst, a one off, big money match."

Powell's POV: Barnett has worked in Japan and the reviews for his in-ring work have been positive. He was also an interesting guest on The Steve Austin Show a while back.

-Ross on his WrestleMania weekend shows: "Still haven't finalized our NOLA date during WM30 week as it seems that many people take something like three weeks off for the holidays in the USA. However, we re close on the NOLA deal so if you're coming to WM30 please keep our show in mind."

Powell's POV: Sounds like Ross is good to go, but the delayed announcement is out of his hands. The parties who are dragging their feet on this would be wise to get the word out quickly before those attending WrestleMania weekend make plans to attend one of the other events in New Orleans that weekend. That said, the reminders that Ross is putting out about the event should lead to some fans sitting tight before making final plans for the big weekend.

Other topics include Ross's predictions on UFC 168, more on Brock Lesnar, and An Evening With Jim Ross in New York City.
