Jim Ross comments on WWE Survivor Series, Chris Hero's release from WWE developmental, Kane's new role
Nov 11, 2013 - 03:42 PM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.

-Ross on WWE Raw and WWE Survivor Series: "WWE's Monday Night Raw catches a big break with the NFL schedule and hopefully they will capitalize on such. WWE needs to ignite the interest in their next PPV offering, the Survivor Series, as there seems to be little buzz surrounding the event which has a wealth of history attached to it from over the years. I don't see WWE going back to the total, elimination tag team bouts ever again but putting one of their few, established stars in an elimination tag to provide the star's teammates a viable 'rub' isn't a bad concept."

Powell's POV: The Monday Night Football game is definitely a dud on paper, so WWE potentially has a chance attract more viewers than usual for tonight's pre-taped show. I like the idea of using current stars to elevate others, but seeing is believing. WWE seems a little too content with using the same old stars right now while doing little or nothing to develop the characters of the intriguing younger acts. I hope I'm wrong about that.

-Ross on Kane's new role: "Hopefully, Kane will add to the 'Authority' storyline currently being played out in WWE. I'm often asked what I think of the latest Kane idea and I'm not smart enough to predict the future and am willing to watch how Kane's revised, TV persona and presentation plays out. We'll know soon enough."

Powell's POV: I am hopeful that Kane playing this part means we will see less of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The power couple plays their roles well, but there is more interest in Hunter facing Daniel Bryan and Big Show than there is in seeing those two challenge for the WWE Championship. They need to take the focus away from Triple H and get it back on the full-time wrestlers.

-Ross on Kassius Ohno's release: "Obviously, it is regrettable as no one wins in this particular scenario. I have been out of the WWE loop for a while but know that there were issues that were being addressed with this matter while I was still in the company. Ohno/Hero was well thought of and I felt he had a the potential for a bright future in WWE. Perhaps he still does down the road. Any time a talent with the experience, skill set and potential that Kassius/Chris possesses fails, it is an unfortunate situation for all involved in the process. Having been there, hopefully all can learn from the experience and hope that history doesn't repeat itself. These issues are rarely one sided as it takes two to tango."

Powell's POV: Obviously, WWE is going to be just fine without Chris Hero, but it is a shame that he and the company couldn't make it work. I thought he had a bright future with WWE.
