WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross comments on 50/50 pro wrestling booking, the need for companies to develop new talent, business meetings in New York
Oct 14, 2013 - 02:35 PM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.

-Ross on booking: "50/50 booking helps NO one. Those trying to re-invent the 'booking' wheel and who refuse or simply ignore basic psychology and human emotions are foolish or naive or...gasp... egomaniacal. Box office receipts and PPV numbers should convince any one who professes that the fine line between good and evil need not exist."

Powell's POV: I could not agree more. Here's hoping the WWE creative team is paying close attention.

-Ross on the need for new talent: "Pro wrestling companies who don't have a system to develop and introduce new talents are bound to fail. How talents are introduced and then game planned is crucial."

Powell's POV: Very true. TNA may not be able to afford to build their own facility similar to the WWE Performance Center, but I really hope they find a way to beef up their developmental process. It doesn't require a ton of money to do a better job of scouting than TNA has done thus far.

-Ross on business meetings: "Heading to New York City in a few days to begin some potentially viable meetings that could impact what I will be doing in 2014 at least to some degree."

Powell's POV: Spike TV does business out of New York. Ross has been blunt about not having interest in working for TNA, but I'm sure that won't stop the speculation.

Other topics include Dusty Rhodes, the Red River Rivalry game, the lack of main event depth in WWE, a response to shoot interview requests, and more.
