Jim Ross comments on The Shield winning WWE gold, renewed resurgence for one WWE wrestler, thoughts on WWE pre and post game shows
May 20, 2013 - 02:17 PM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.

-Ross on The Shield winning gold: "Big night for The Shield as they left St. Louis with Championship Gold and not on fluke victories. WWE obviously has confidence in the three, young men whose best days lie ahead of them if they continue to evolve. Evolution takes effort and hard work and being ready for additional responsibilities. I've seen some young talents get a taste of success and then fold like a cheap lawn chair. I don't see that happening to Ambrose, Rollins or Reigns... I'm curious to see how or if TheShield can add additional luster to the United States title and the Tag Titles in the coming days. I'd rather see no titles than cold one's."

Powell's POV: I'm with Ross on that last line especially. One can only hope that WWE creative plan in place that involves The Shield elevating the gold. I am very curious to see how the U.S. Title is presented now that Ambrose has it. The usual slew of non-title matches and champion vs. champion losses is unacceptable.

-Ross on Randy Orton: "Feels like Randy Orton is about to embark on a renewed career resurgence but that's merely my instincts talking and with no 'inside knowledge.'"

Powell's POV: I hope Ross is right and this isn't just a case of Orton stepping up and WWE booking him well in his hometown.

-Ross on Extreme Rules pre-show: "Love the concept of the pre and post game shows for the WWE PPV's as they make the event feel bigger and more important. The efforts being put forth in developing the WWE App fits perfectly with these two shows that debuted at WM29. It's a good role for a talent to have and I felt like Renee Young did well in the host role in a concept that will certainly evolve and, I feel, can become a viable part of the PPV process. Having a Hall of Famer with no agenda such as Mick Foley is also a plus as those types of individuals aren't trying to get themselves spotlighted which active talents have a hard time not doing."

Powell's POV: The pre-show's technical problem killed my enthusiasm, but I still love the idea of the pre and post show concept. If last night is any indication, the post shows are definitely worth keeping an eye on, as you get a feel for where things are headed.

Other topics include WWE Extreme Rules, the cage match, John Cena vs. Ryback, bad weather near JR's home, and much more.
