WWE's Jim Ross on ESPN College Football Live recap and replay info
Oct 10, 2008 - 03:17 PM

Jim Ross appeared on the ESPN College Football Live show on Friday afternoon. Ross appeared via remote and had the WWE logo hanging behind him in the background. "I'm WWE Hall of Fame broadcaster Jim Ross," Ross said in a preview of his segment. "I'll tell you why tomorrow is going to be a slobberknocker, why Oklahoma will win tomorrow's Red River Shootout, and why the Sooners are going to barbecue BEVO (Longhorns mascot) and lay the smack down on Texas."

Later in the show, Ross was featured in a pre-taped segment in which he ran through his keys to winning the game. He said the offensive line, their defensive play, and their special teams must play well in order to win. "I'm hanging my black hat on the winningest college football program of the modern era, the Oklahoma Sooners, to be victorious in the Cotton Bowl." The show will be replayed on ESPN at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Powell's POV: The studio hosts (including former Viking Robert Smith) both agreed with J.R.'s prediction. If this segment had been written by a wrestling writer, you just know that Ross would have swerved everyone by turning heel and picking the Longhorns to win in a landslide.

This was a good showing for Ross and nice exposure for WWE. By the way, there was a brief shot of Triple H in a video package that showed J.R. making a Raw appearance in an Oklahoma shirt. Although he dropped the word barbeque, Ross did not manage to sneak in a plug for J.R.'s Family Bar-B-Q.
