WWE Raw on-site report: Dark tag match with Batista and Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho and Kane, Charlie Haas's latest impersonation, Michael Cole dances!
Oct 7, 2008 - 10:11 AM |
|
Dot Net reader Mina attended Raw in Seattle last night and filed the following report.
Dark Match
1. Dolph Ziggler defeated "Rowdy Charlie Piper." The crowd wasn't quite sure what to do with Ziggler, but any reaction at all was generally booing. Haas was amusing and played well to the crowd. He lost when he didn't let go of a rear naked choke and Ziggler had rolled him over on his back.
Raw Notes
The crowd was pretty hot throughout the show. Lillian Garcia sang the National Anthem. She is absolutely breathtaking.
At times, the crowd was so vociferous in booing Chris Jericho that it was hard to hear him.
I'm pretty sure that Shawn Michaels could have sliced Lance Cade open, tarred and feathered him, or whatever, and the crowd would have cheered him along.
Before the JBL vs. Batista match, JBL cut a similar promo as he did at No Mercy. It was pretty funny when Lillian grabbed the mic out of his hand before he was done. JBL did not break character, assumed an indignant look, and started berating her. She shrugged, smirked, and appeared to tell him his time was up.
The second video package for John Cena actually saw some cheers for him!
After the Kelly Kelly vs. Jillian match, Cryme Tyme joined Kelly Kelly in the ring. They celebrated together, dancing for each side of the ring. K2 slid out of the ring and brought Michael Cole into ring to dance with them. Gotta give it to Cole; the man can't dance at all, but he has absolutely no problem doing whatever it takes to entertain the audience.
Mike Adamle did a decent job in the segment aired on TV. After Raw went off the air, Adamle came back out and told Batista and Jericho that they did not have a lot of time to digest the news about Cyber Sunday because the fans of Seattle were promised a main event tag match. Jericho took off the ref shirt as Kane and Rey Mysterio were re-introduced.
Dark Match Main Event
1. Batista and Rey Mysterio defeated Kane and Chris Jericho. Kane immediately took his spot on the apron and Jericho motioned that he wanted Batista. Rey climbed out of the ring as Jericho teased aggression and readiness at Batista before tagging Kane in. Batista and Rey switched places too. It was a good little match that ended after Rey hit a 619 on Kane, and Batista delivered a Spinebuster for the three count.
After the match, Batista and Rey celebrated. Rey convinced Batista to do his signature power up with the ropes and did it with him on each side of the ring. When they got to the announcer's table side, they convinced Lillian and Mike Chioda to join them. It was very entertaining to watch all four do the foot-stomping, ropes-shaking in stereo. Batista, Rey, and Lillian all spent time slapping hands and posing for pictures.
No Way Out will be in Seattle in February. As I was also at No Mercy in Portland, Lillian announced that the Smackdown/ECW tapings would be in Portland following No Way Out.
Biggest Pops:
1. Shawn Michaels/Batista
2. Rey Mysterio
3. CM Punk
4. Matt Hardy/Kofi Kingston
Most Heat:
1. Chris Jericho
2. JBL
3. Kane
