Dot Net WWE News: Jeff Hardy's stock following his recent airport incident
Sep 30, 2008 - 10:59 AM |
Jeff Hardy doesn't appear to be in the doghouse following his recent incident at the Nashville International Airport. Hardy was not allowed to take a flight home because he was deemed too intoxicated by someone at the airport. There were some sighs of relief among some in WWE management who feared that he did something more serious.
The buzz is that Hardy spent the night of the Smackdown tapings hanging out with his brother Matt Hardy and Gregory Helms. It was Helms's first night back on the road following a long layoff from neck surgery, and a number of wrestlers enjoyed the Nashville nightlife that evening.
Powell's POV: I've spoken with multiple people in the industry who said they've been asked to take later flights because they were deemed intoxicated. Others confess that there have been many times when they slipped by that they could have easily found themselves in similar circumstances.
Obviously, the difference is that these people don't have two strikes against them in the Wellness Policy and their airport incidents didn't become public knowledge. Hardy's incident didn't help his standing in WWE, but it's not like his stock has dropped dramatically because of it. For what it's worth, friends say they haven't noticed any signs of Jeff slipping back into his old habits, yet they also admit that there were no red flags when Hardy tested positive earlier this year.
