WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross radio talk on The Rock vs. C.M. Punk, which wrestlers Dolph Ziggler watches, whether Ric Flair passed the torch to The Miz
Jan 20, 2013 - 10:14 AM |
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross made his weekly appearance on Yahoo Sports Radio with host Sean Pendergast on Saturday. You can listen to the full appearance at Yahoosportsradio.com.
-Ross said he asked Dolph Ziggler which wrestlers he watches on tape/DVD. Ziggler told him Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair. Ross said people make too much of wrestler's won/loss records. He said it's about the performance and Ziggler had a hell of a performance on Monday.
-Ross spoke about the differences in the build for The Rock vs. John Cena compared to Rock vs. C.M. Punk, most notably the physicality. He said John Cena is very polarizing and is a fan favorite, and Rock was a fan favorite. He said you have to approach those differently than the traditional protagonist vs. antagonist.
-Pendergast asked if Ric Flair passed the torch to The Miz to the extent that Miz will now use the Figure Four. Ross said he doesn't think so. He said it was a proverbial case of Miz getting a nice rub from Flair. Ross said Miz was beaming after the segment because he had the chance to work with Flair. Ross said people who felt the segment was too over the top need to spend more time working on their taxes. Ross thought it was entertaining and helped Miz.
-Ross was asked about Alberto Del Rio. He said he believes Del Rio is more natural in a wrestling sense more so than as a cheater. He also spoke about his appeal to the Hispanic demographic.
Powell's POV: No kids and it's not tax time just yet. I'm sure I'll find something to occupy my time. Sorry, I just did not care for the Flair and Miz segment and still feel Antonio Cesaro was the most entertaining of the three. Ross also spoke about his cookbook, pro football, the Manti Te'o, and more during the second half of the show.
