Dot Net WWE News: Vince McMahon's feelings on ads in WWE rings, John Morrison too goofy?
Sep 15, 2008 - 02:51 PM |

-Vince McMahon is generally opposed to placing ads in his rings because he feels it distracts from the action. One source who has worked closely with McMahon said he might make an exception if the company landed an upper echelon account. "You won't see super soaker there," said the source.
-John Morrison has not received a big push is because there have been people in the company who feel that he doesn't know how to generate real heat. One criticism about his act is that it's "too goofy" and he goes for more laughs than boos.
Powell's POV: I can see where Vince is coming from on not wanting cheap ads in his ring. Maybe the trick would be for Vince to offer an ad-free version of Raw where the in-ring ads were somehow removed from the website, er, broadcast. Thanks to the Dot Net Member who asked about advertising in the rings. Remember, I answer reader questions in the Member Exclusive Q&A audio update every Friday.
I'm hopeful that creative and the agents have changed their tune on Morrison because he's one of the more entertaining performers on ECW TV. I'd like to think that the breakup angle they're teasing with The Miz is a sign that enough opinions have changed that he's on the verge of getting a singles push.
