TNT network has green lit the "The Hero" reality show starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Entertainment Weekly reports that the network has ordered eight episodes. Johnson will serve as "host, mentor, and motivator" and is co-producing the series along with his business partner Dany Garcia and the Electus studio.

“Dany and I couldn’t be more excited to enter into our first official foray in TV production,” Johnson stated in a press release. "The Hero speaks to everything I believe in when it comes to challenging ourselves, to becoming better people every day and to making the right choices while growing from the wrong ones.

"Bridging the digital and physical world on the small screen in a way that’s never been done before will enable fans to use social media and on-screen decision making to determine the fate of the show’s contestants, and our goal is to make each TV moment impactful and exciting." Powell's POV: The television show will feature ten contestants who live in a house together and compete in missions that "test their brains, their brawn, and even their morality." The show is scheduled to premiere in 2013. I'm curious to see how much WWE promotes the show given that it is airing on an NBC Universal competitor.
