WWE News: Jim Ross says calling matches helped influence Vince McMahon's philosophy
Aug 22, 2012 - 06:38 PM |
In an article on WWE.com, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross talks what it was like to broadcast with Vince McMahon in the mid 1990s. JR believes that MvMahon's lengthy stay at the announce table held shape his philosophy of wrestling, writing, "Vince was known to be more of a storyteller than a play-by-play man even though in his early broadcasting career, he filled the traditional role of calling hold by hold. I am a firm believer that calling so many matches in the formative part of his professional career helped McMahon form his long-term philosophies and vision that would create the global WWE we know today." You can read the full article at http://www.wwe.com/classics/jim-ross/jim-ross-on-mr-mcmahon-26047142.
Shore's Slant: An interesting take from JR, but not one without merit. As many of our readers know, I have been doing live play-by-play work for two local promotions and it really has changed how I view the product, and that's only after a couple of dozen events. Vince has called hundreds of dates, and that has to influence him.
