WWE Raw 1000 onsite report: More details on The Rock after Raw went off the air, an in-person perspective on all the returning legends and the live crowd reaction
Jul 24, 2012 - 02:35 PM

Dot Net reader Nick Shields attended Raw 1000 on Monday and sent the following report.

Ever since the Royal Rumble in the same building when they announced that Raw 1000 would be there I had to get tickets and I got em at exactly 10 am ct, the day they went on sale, June 2nd as I was in sec 102 row u so they were great seats. Getting in was the biggest CF as it took forever and i missed the superstars matches. The new set was really cool and I never really got what the new song was.

-Vince McMahon coming out was a nice surprise, as he got a good pop and he started off the show right just like the first Raw ever.

-DX got a huge pop and they did there normal routine, the place popped huge when they said they thought their were others. The New Age Outlaws got a nice pop and that was a good bit having them come out in the infamous truck. The fireworks were a good little touch as well. Damien Sandow got booed pretty good and the place popped when HBK and Triple H did their finishers and all their famous lines were good pops, all in all a really good opening segment.

-All six participants of the six man tag match got good pops with Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho with the two biggest. Jericho's entrance is really cool live. The match was good in the little time they had and did a good Job of getting cheap heat on Ziggler by turning on his tag team partner.

-The first 35 minutes were full of fireworks and I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack if the fireworks kept up at the pace.

-Charlie Sheen was a nice touch on the skype calls but it was nothing special.

-When I saw the disco ball I just thought wow here's a waste of 15 minutes but Dude Love (Mick Foley) made it a cool segment as the match was like 5 seconds long and it was quick and painless like it should've been.

-The wedding was being setup while promos were being shown.Slick looked nothing like his promo video as I could tell age has caught up to him. Daniel Bryan came out to a mixed reaction and YES! chants were pretty good, AJ got a nice reaction and I knew coming In the wedding something would happen. When Slick asked if anyone rejected, there was a good portion booing for rejection. When AJ said she had accepted a different type of proposal and Vince came out I thought to myself, I hope he doesn't get involved In another storyline.

-AJ being named GM was confusing as I never even thought about her being named it. DB trashed the set and during commercial said he wasn't leaving and noone could make him. CM Punk came out to a good reaction as I am a huge CM Punk fan, and it was cool seeing his entrance live. When Daniel Bryan said he was the greatest ever I knew someone came out and BAM out came the Rock and the place came unglued massive pop for Rock. The talking segment was really good with The Rock calling DB, Frodo, and a mixture of an oompa loompa and a homeless lumberjack. I'm sure those were both trending on Twitter, by the way follow me (@nshields419), and Rocky chants were very loud and vocal and a small "You Still Got It" chant was cool, good pop with Rocks famous lines, and the Rock Bottom on Bryan. Very good segment.

-Bret Hart had a good pop but the crowd was still calming down from the last segment. Christian got a nice reaction and Miz had a mixed reaction. Good match and I'm glad they made Miz relevant again by winning something important.

-Charlie Sheen was back, and that was ok but nothing special

-Triple H came back out to a good reaction but not as big as his DX entrance. Paul Heyman got booed pretty badly and he is great on the mic and can get push peoples buttons pretty easily. Stephanie came out to a nice reaction and she is HOT. Her slapping Heyman and eventually beating him up was funny and it basically put him over the line and Heyman finally accepted the SS challenge. Brock Lesnar finally came out to a mixed reaction and those shoulder blocks looked hard! But in the end Hunter won the exchange and set up their SummerSlam match much to the crowd pleasing to basically everything he did.

-The Santino and Hornswoggle bit was pointless and didn't even need to happen, I'm glad there wasn't a bunch of crappy comedy on this show as their usually is.

-Howard Finkel introduced Heath Slater to mostly boos and when he started talking more boos were definitely loud. Lita got a nice pop and it was funny when Slater laughed at her for challenging her. The APA got a big pop and it was a cool bit when Slater tried to leave and all the legends that have already beat his ass (excluding Doink) came out to make sure he was in the ring thus having the reasoning why it was a No DQ. Ron Simmons saying "DAMN" is always funny and gets a cheap pop. All in all a fun segment

-Good to see Chavo's son there, haha.

-Backstage with Cena and Rock was cool and was a good segment with no funny business.

-Kane's entrance was cool and I could feel the fire of his entrance where I was sitting. He got a good pop. When all the randoms came out, I only thought the worst. When Undertaker came out the place went INSANE. I could feel the fire of his entrance too and it was really cool. There was a funny segment where he needed help getting the jacket off cause it wouldn't come off. Taker and Kane taking care of everyone and the Double chokeslam/Tombstones were awesome. Very good segment and glad to see Taker still has it.

-More Charlie Sheen when he said the next time he is in Los Angeles he can find him and what a concidence he'll be there in three weeks

-Time for the main event. Cena came out first to plenty of boos and cheers too but It was pretty loud regardless. Then Punk came out to another massive pop. It was awesome when Cena had his shirt thrown back as can't stand Cena and loved that. Very vocal, Let's go Cena, Cena sucks chants, and they guy a few rows wouldn't stop so someone in the tune of Cena Sucks said Shut the hell up, funny moment there. The match was pretty good until Big Show interfered and it was a good live crowd moment when Cena pinned Punk but there was no ref. At first, I was pissed about the Big Show making it a DQ but what happened after I was fine with. Show beat up Cena, Rock beat up Show, and much to the chagrin of the crowd Punk beat up Rock, I was torn on who whether to boo or cheer Punk since the Rock and Punk are my top two favorites.

-I think Punk as a heel will be awesome and I can't wait to see what all this leads to.

-After Raw went off the air, The Rock and Cena got back to their feet and Rock gave Show a few punches then a Rock Bottom then Cena a AA. Rock was gonna do a People's Elbow but didn't have an armband so he used Cena's got a mic and said, "Wow, are u sure this isn't a headband" cause it had to go on Cena's huge arms. Rock put on Cena's armband it was even big on him and did peoples elbow to send the crowd home happy. He said "Thank You" and he enjoyed the atmosphere, then gave his "If you smell" line and went to the back.

-All in all a great show, definitely the best one I've ever been too, and I can't wait to come back for Extreme Rules!

Biggest Pops
-Undertaker/Rock
-DX/Punk
- Cena

Most heat no order
-Cena
-Punk when he beat up Rock
-Ziggler
-Del Rio
