Jim Ross comments on WWE Money in the Bank, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame drama involving TNA star Kurt Angle's plaque, the new and improved NXT not airing in the United States
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.
-Ross on WWE Money in the Bank: "Thought the @CMPunk vs. @WWEDanielBryan bout was excellent and the match of the night for my money. AJ fit well into the bout and did not adversely affect the outcome and allowed the bulk of the story, bell to bell, to be about the WWE Title, the WWE Champion, and the #1 contender."
Powell's POV: I wonder how many fans were left disappointed by the fact that they didn't get a final resolution to the A.J. matter. Don't get me wrong, the match was great, but the hype was all about A.J.'s role as the special referee, and we didn't even know it was going to be a No DQ match until the hours leading up to the show.
-Ross on Kurt Angle and Jerry Brisco drama: "Obviously, Kurt is getting his award and an impromptu comedy bit/rib has been addressed after multiple knee jerk reactions created a buzz on a slow, news weekend. Don't be mistaken, many of us were disappointed that we were not able to see an old friend and stated so but as it bound to happen some things are taken out of context or embellished.
"For those of us who were instrumental in the early stages of Kurt Angle's career, to see him earn an award such as the Frank Gotch Award is a 'win' for us all. For Kurt to be unable to attend was disappointing to everyone involved, including Angle himself. Hopefully Kurt can attend next year and enjoy the wonderful, two day affair in Waterloo. I know that he would love to tour the museum loaded with amateur and pro items...and eat at the Brown Bottle. Plus, he could have some fun at Brisco's expense."
Powell's POV: Angle vented on Twitter about his plaque being auctioned by Brisco, but he has since stated that he should have spoken with him first since they are friends. Brisco got the plaque back and it will be sent to Angle, so it appears that all is well despite some temporary drama. Ross noted in his blog that Brisco was having "a little fun" with Angle not being there, and he wrote a lot more about that issue and the overall National Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend in his full blog.
-Ross on WWE NXT not airing in the United States: "I do not know of any plans for WWE.com to air NXT to answer a frequently asked question. NXT is wrestling heavy and, arguably, features more in ring content than any other WWE program."
Powell's POV: It's a damn shame that American viewers are not able to watch the show on a weekly basis via WWE's official Youtube channel. I'm still not sure what WWE has to lose unless they're actively shopping the show around to various networks. The product finally improved and a lot of online fans would enjoy watching the developmental talents.
Other topics include much more on the National Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend, John Cena and Dolph Ziggler winning Money in the Bank contracts, a match to seek out online, and more.
