Jim Ross comments Vader, Vince McMahon and Hornswoggle impersonating him, the three-hour WWE Raw format
Jun 12, 2012 - 03:03 PM

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com.

-Ross on Vader: "Loved the return of Vader on Raw. Leon White aka Vader has lost a bunch of weight after getting north or the 400 pound mark and looked to be 330ish the last time that I saw him which was down in Tampa a few weeks ago. Vader's son is 'Jake Carter' who is one half of the Florida Tag Team Champions along with Cory Graves. For those asking I have no idea if Vader's appearance is a one off or if he will be back occasionally. I can't see him in full time but, again, I don't know."

Powell's POV: The 57 year-old Vader did a hell of a job in his surprise appearance last night. It was fun to see him again and the live crowd's reaction to a guy who hasn't worked full-time in WWE since 1998 was awesome.

-Ross on three hours of Raw: "Three hour TV shows are daunting and must be approached with extensive, long term planning and preparation. I enjoyed many elements of Monday Night Raw but watching ANY TV show for three hours isn't easy for me. Hopefully, three hour Monday Night Raw's will provide more multiple segment wrestling matches and not more talk. Yep, old school guy here...I like the wrestling, drama, athleticism, and personal issues better than most talk."

Powell's POV: I enjoyed Monday's show more than most of the three-hour broadcasts, but I still feel strongly that WWE is making a mistake in expanding Raw to three hours on a regular basis. There were elements of Monday's show that felt like a blur by the time the marathon show concluded. I don't think WWE has the roster depth or the creative strengths to pull off three quality hours each week. I hope they prove me wrong, but I haven't heard from anyone in the industry yet who feels that this is a good idea, though obviously the extra programming fee revenue looks good for Wall Street. Ross had more to say about the three-hour format in his actual blog. As always, we're only running the highlights.

-Ross on Vince McMahon and Hornswoggle: "'Jim Ross' Trending on Twitter during Raw was a surprise. The Hornswoggle/Mr. McMahon skit impersonating yours truly must have struck a nerve with some folks. The Boss and 'Swoggle made for a comedic pair. Sell 'da Sauce!"

Powell's POV: Ross has a history of publicly no-selling the bullying antics of his boss Vince McMahon, so no one should be surprised that he's not firing back. I found it distasteful due to the way McMahon impersonated Ross's facial paralysis. I know I wasn't the only one shaking my head when they had the balls to air one of their anti-bullying spots later in the show. Here's hoping that all these recent Ross mentions are a setup for Ross returning on a regular basis in some capacity.

Other topics include Dolph Ziggler and Christian, Big Show, the FCW tryout camp, JBL's attempt to climb seven mountains, cage matches, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole, and much more.
