5/1 WWE NXT taping: A detailed report on the taping for Wednesday's online show, dark match result featuring Dean Ambrose (spoilers)
May 1, 2012 - 07:35 PM |
Dot Net reader D.J. is at the WWE Smackdown taping in Toledo, Ohio and the sent the following report on the taping for Wednesday's WWE NXT online show.
Dark Match
1. Dean Ambrose defeated Ezekiel Jackson. Ambrose won with a running knee to the head. Ambrose cut a pre-match heel promo.
WWE NXT Taping
The show started with Matt Striker and William Regal in the ring. Striker welcomed back Josh Matthews to the announce desk and welcomed Regal back from "talent scouting." Regal promised new debuting talent in ensuing weeks.
Johnny Curtis and Maxine interrupted, which later brought out JTG. Regal said that they were the cause of lots of trouble for Hornswoggle last week. A challenge was made to any team in the back, which was accepted by Tyson Kidd. Kidd introduced Alex Riley as his partner.
It's also worth noting that Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks are sitting in the front row flashing their "ticket stubs." I don't think they were acknowledged by Regal and/or Striker in the opening segment.
1. Tyson Kidd and Alex Riley defeated Johnny Curtis and JTG. Maxine was on commentary for the match. JTG tapped to Kidd's new submission finisher.
Backstage, Mike McGillicutty made fun of Percy Watson's tassels. Watson told McGillicutty that Regal made a one-on-one match between the two of them tonight. McGillicutty said he wasn't the one who attacked Watson last week and warned Percy not to cross him.
After the break, the Raw Rebound aired, highlighting the Lesnar/Triple H confrontation.
Reks and Hawkins were shown on camera with signs that read "Regal Sucks" and "Change 4 NXT." Regal asked security to escort them out and said for them to hit the unemployment line because they were fired.
Backstage, JTG complained to Alicia Fox that it's like he's been "stuck under a dark cloud" the last few weeks. Alicia said he looked like he was stuck in 1990's Brooklyn and offered to give him a makeover: new gear, new look, new "you." Fox promised to make him a champion. JTG said, "Hmm, let me think about that.....NO!" but subsequently agreed. He added, "One week? Okay."
Derrick Bateman talked to Kaitlyn about how excited he was to finally have a match on Smackdown. The duo found Alex Riley backstage after being attacked, with Riley maintaining that McGillicutty was his attacker. They vowed to take Riley to the hospital.
2. Mike McGillicutty defeated Percy Watson. Striker walked from backstage to the announce desk and whispered something in Regal's ear. Regal grabbed a mic and told Percy that it might not be great timing, but he wanted to know if the tassel in his hand belonged to Percy. Regal said it was found near Alex Riley and that security wanted to have a word with him. This concluded the NXT taping.
